Transition

Harlington has a well–established and successful programme to support effective transition between primary school and Harlington School.

March – National Offer Day

If you have a confirmed offer of a place at Harlington School on National Offer Day, it is important that you accept the place by the deadline date provided in your offer email. Places not accepted by the deadline will be offered to students on the waiting list.

Once you have accepted your place, you will be sent an admissions pack with all of the information you will need for September as well as a form to complete and return.  This ensures we can include you in email communications from the school as soon as possible.

April to July

Our transition co-ordinator and our SENCo visit each primary school in order to speak to the children who are joining us and also their teachers about any particular needs, interests and achievement levels your child has.

June – July

In preparation for starting year 7, we offer a three-week, ‘New Beginnings’ transition programme for all year 6 families. This gives you and your child an opportunity to ask any questions you may have, gain information about our school and take part in transition activities all aimed at helping students settle in from September.

For children with an Education, Health & Care Plan, we offer daytime induction visits in addition to the New Beginnings programme.

In July, students attend our Transition Day and spend the day with their new Form Tutor and peers. It is a chance for students to make new friends, meet their form tutor and some of their teachers and try out new and exciting lessons.

Summer Holidays

We offer a free, one-week Transition Camp during the summer holidays. Another great  opportunity to start to make friends and get to know teachers.
