Job Description

HISTORY FACULTY:

The History department offers a strong academic pathway at both Key Stages 4 and 5, and continues to see good grades at Key Stage 4 with a high number of students selecting History at A level and making good progress. We have and will continue to adapt the curriculum so as to fit the needs and interests of our pupils.

The specific aims of the History department are that students should view History as an enjoyable and interesting subject which helps pupils understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups as well as their own identities and challenges of their time. All teachers within the department love and value the study of the past, and we want students to match this passion, generating an interest in the past that will remain with them for life and help influence their development into good citizens. Secondly, we wish to transmit knowledge and understanding of the past, both within the United Kingdom and of the wider world. Students should therefore show an understanding of how the world we live in has been shaped by the past. Finally, it is our aim that students continuously develop life skills such as thinking, evaluating, analysing, empathizing and communicating;
there are very few jobs that do not require these key skills.
